Or maybe your soil is 6.8-7.0? Test a little peat moss to see if the meter is working.

Hope the fog stays away Salt. And from what I hear, you really have to watch out for The Mist, or at least Netflix and Mr King say so.
The best deal they have is on black Friday. The past couple of years it's been free shipping over $69. 3 basic EBboxes will get you there. I would never buy their complete kits, you can get your own fertilizer, lime, potting mix, much cheaper than they will sell it to you. And I don't need casters, they will just get dirt in them. The free ship is like getting $25 bucks off.

Having a nervous system with a mind of its own must be difficult, brings me joy to see you confront it and live with it with a positive spin. Hope this weekend is paresthesia free

Agreed!

Also agree about waiting for the free shipping deals. If you sign up,they will email you. FWIW, I do get the wheels, and roll them in and out of the sun, depending on the season.

Here is a picture of the wheeled ones with sweet peas from this winter/spring.

"I will be asking questions like this one: How does the earth boxes not keep the mix too wet?"

@ALlittleSalt,

As Ginger said "
"There is only a punch down of the peat in 2 small areas to allow for perfect wicking, not overly wet at all.,"

I also think the mix is important, in terms of the right amount of moisture retention, draining, and wicking, and the "showercap" keeps out rain, but in my winter, my mix DOES sometimes get too wet for things like garlic.

Here is a flyer I used in a planting activity this morning. A nice picture of how the Earthbox works.

Shrinkrap, great looking set up. Casters make sense for you, you are on a hard surface. Mine are on top of the ground.

Thank you. There wasn't a lot of the paresthesia which is usually present in my neck shoulders arms and hands. The only nerve damage that I had to have two surgeries because of is my ulnar nerve in my left arm. It's being pinched/torn in my neck. After each surgery, the nerve pain spread throughout my body. The first 15 years - I did everything the doctors all agreed on and it didn't help.

Everyone, I know that a disease isn't about container gardening, but in my case, it is, and not what seems to be obvious. Of course, I can't work on it if I can't mentally focus on it and it hurts too much physically to do it. However, in 2010, I quit taking all the opiates and morphine that the pain specialists prescribed - they were not helping. My regular doctor told me to find a hobby to keep me busy. I chose gardening.

Gardening has helped me tremendously even through the years of RKN and Fusarium Wilt 3. It has kept me busy, and this year's new-to-me container gardening has kept me busy learning. This garden is/are just baby steps.

I couldn't reply to Gerardo's post earlier because it wasn't possible. It's just part of life for me. Why can I post now? I've been drinking vodka moderately. The grandchildren are with their other grandparents. I tried to reply earlier today, but I typoed almost every word.

Salt, you're finding ways to live your life when you can, how you can. That's great. And we appreciate your effort to connect with us!

Thank you Nan.

I know there are a lot more people out there that fight diseases that can garden and even work. As an owner of a now defunct site about RSD/CRPS - I have seen people give up too, and it hurts to the core. I don't want that to distract from this thread.

I may be too late on changing out the cages. I have never seen tomato plants grow in the way they are growing. Mark, I can see them growing so tall. I can see how two plants can grow in one 5 gallon bucket.

I need to take this knowledge and adjust.

Container growing is a whole new world. For those with nematodes...once you go to containers you will never look back.

I'm starting to feel a little better. I'm hoping to get out there to work on the cages in the morning. I will keep posting and thank you.

Container growing sure is a whole new world.

It is 1AM and I'm not sleepy. I have a doctor's appointment on Wednesday. I'm going to talk to him about pain medicines for the first time in 8 years. I've known that this day would come and I have been avoiding it huge-time. The medicine won't change what I post here.

The garden is looking wonderful except for the okra plants are staying too wet. Worth, I didn't have the money or health to do as you wrote. I know what you wrote is simple, but I spread myself too thin. The way to look at it is this is my first year of learning about container growing. I will make mistakes - no excuses.
