While it is much to early to celebrate yet, it looks like Jerry might be a fish storm like Humberto.

My house flooded at least three times in ten years when I lived down south, lost count.

It sucked and was work to clean up but I lived through it.
Not every time was it a tropical storm but just heavy rain.
One time I got up to 6 inches of water all over the floor.

Drove home in a tropical storm another time and my truck died in the middle of a down pour.
School bus stopped and picked me up.

I was soaking wet.

Do I feel for folks in these storms, yes it is a given.
But it has been so dry and hot I have been seeing road side fires they have put out.
So yes I looked forward to a little break from the heat and dry weather.
Because I dont want my place to burn down like it almost did a few years ago.
Selfish maybe but what the hell, I cant stop the storm no more than anyone else can.
I have friends and loved one right in the middle of it.

Hot & dry still here in Northern Kentucky. They put a county wide burn ban in place today.

Worth, I don't think you're insensitive or you were being selfish. You were merely expressing a thought that crossed your mind.

Just got off from texting one of my life long friends and loved ones in Richwood Texas, all is well.
He got 5 inches and Freeport got 12 inches they are a stones throw away from each other.

They have way too much rain down south. We are about 300 miles to the north of the Gulf. It hasn't rained here since A little shower in August. In Texas terms - 300 miles is 'Down the road a ways'.

The flooded Missouri River is still in flood stage...since March 15, 2019. The Army Corps of Engineers is keeping us flooded until further notice. Still no direction east for us until perhaps next flood season starts, so it may be years until they get a handle on flood control. Get rid of the Corps and let somebody who wants to control the flooding rather than provide for recreation in the Dakotas.

What are they doing up there? The Bonnie Carrie spillway has been closed since late July and the water level is down in the Mississippi river so I don't understand why Ya'll still have flooding.

C'mon, Imelda, Illinois needs some rain. I am going to set a new record water bill with my daily irrigation. The water company will think I have a leak.

The remnants of Imelda is dumping feet of rain in Southeast Texas. An area just west of Beaumont recorded 42.9 inches in 3 days. Yes, 42.9 inches.

I just came in from mowing and heard that on accuweather. I cannot imagine that much rain in such a short time. That's more than the DFW area receives in a year.

It's still dry as a bone here but some wonderfully nice cool weather has moved in with a great ENE breeze. All the doors and windows are open to "change out the air"!

Doesn't take a major hurricane to do a lot of damage and claim lives. I don't think Imelda was a weak tropical storm but a few hours
