My attempt to get a photo cake of the 1922 Stark seeds catalog for my Dad's birthday has failed - first, Stark Seeds still exists, so the design is not public domain. Some of the stores I called said they won't do anything but family photos to avoid copyright infringement. Secondly, several of the stores said their photo machines aren't working! And one store said they needed a week's notice!
So hubby Dave is picking up two homemade pies from Baltimore's premier piemaker, Dangerously Delicious. I figure I can put an "8" candle in one and a "5" in the other, so if Dad wants to be 58 he can. Oh, and I bought a bunch of ballpoint pens and more plates and cups. |

Does anybody have a CD boombox or other CD player they could bring along? A GW member has kindly offered to burn a mix of all kinds of music to play at the fest, but we don't have anything to play it on! (I do have a long extension cord, though.)

Speaking of seeds, Mary (manure_queen on GW) can't make it this year but donated the seeds of the varieties that she won't be growing again next year (she says she has trouble growing some - mainly blacks - in her microclimate). The only variety she's really interested in is Trifele. Does anybody have some for her?

Gene,
All unique, how nice. I was very suprised last year, how little overlap there was in varieties. We will have to do a count and see if we can beat the 80 of last year. Some folks from last year can't make it this year but its seems that there are many new folks so it should be close. Greg |

Just a warning: It's supposed to be in the 90s on Saturday, so please, if you can, bring (and drink) lots of water!

I guess this is what I get for planting so early...I have little to nothing to bring...I may have a couple of Guido's to bring and some Tony's Plum Tomato...but little else. We had about four straight days of rain...and while it was a blessing...it did a number on my toms...many split and just rotten...
I will be bringing seeds from Tom's Yellow Wonder and Nicky Crain. And as Cecilia mentioned...bringing lots of water...

Mark - I know all about that rain. Today is going to be sunny and Hot so I will raid the plants and find out what is going to make the cut.
See everyone tomorrow! -Kim

Mark,
Fear not, whatever you can bring is great. Some folks will have many and others will have few but thats the nice thing about having a group. Further we need tasters to determine the best tomato around! The more the marrier. My girls made some very nice ribbons for 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize for the best tomato. They want to see who wins them but they will have to leave early so we need some pictures. Does anyone have a digital camara? Greg |

If I remember, I'll bring my digital camera.
I'll probably be bringing a pie or some kind of dessert. If there are any requests, I can probablly get something at the store tonight. Is anything needed? |
