Default Stem Lesion?

Hi,

Just wondering if someone can identify this stem "lesion" on my Virginia Sweets plant. The ends of the "slot" are sunken a bit into the stem but don't extend any real distance. It's about an inch long and a half-stem deep (or wide). The plant itself is fine but curious about the stem.

Thanks,
Anne
