went to my Farmers COOP yesterday to get some bean seed early asked ole Bricey for White Mccasslins......Nope cant get em this year he said.....cant find em anywhere so I guess Im gonna take a road trip to find me some. He told me that something happened to seeds of several major suppliers of bean seed...so whats the scoop anybody heard.....Gizzard

Most of the vine crops had a VERY bad year producing seed last year. You will see problems getting some of the ones you want. We are already looking for substitutions for some of our bigger selling peas and beans. We know we can't get anymore of them.

Vermont Bean & Seed Co., Pinetree Garden Seeds, and Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds all list McCaslan.

we (Vermont Bean) have less than 20 pounds left for the season on McCaslan.
Guess I never told you the why. Around here there was just too much rain at the wrong time for a good seed production. The other (very large) factor on pea and bean seed production is simply many of the contrators put in corn. You can't blame them with the price of corn the way it was. They could make more money growing corn than seeds. Had it been a normal year for seed buying, you would not have noticed anything.
Shall we call it the perfect storm season for seeds?
