I have a plan, tell me what you think
I have a half wine barrel and I am planning to grow corn around the edge of the barrel and a tomato in the middle. Hoping that the corn will help to support the tomato and also part shade it in the summer.
What do you think??? |

I don't know how well the corn will work as a tomato support, but you won't get much corn to eat. Growing small amounts of corn is difficult. It is wind pollinated, and little pollination usually occurs when planting only several stalks, resulting in ears with very few kernels. You might be able to hand pollinate.
Also--the corn earworm likes tomatoes as well, and they will find your corn for certain if they exist in your area. Jason |
