Thanks Suze, that's it.
Check this out: http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/s...s/shingles.htm Read Treatments Available. Also talks about the vaccine I was talking about--if you are over 60 and have had chickenpox. Seeing what my mother has gone through would be enough for anybody to consider that vaccine.

Here's a brief update on Gary:
Apparently the shingles was a misdiagnosis. He was taken to the hospital on 7/13 suffering severe chest pains. Some of you will recall that he has had cardiac problems in the past. They determined that no further damage had been done but recommended a defibriillator be installed. This had been done and he is now home and doing well. He will no doubt fill us in with details when he feels up to it. Dave |

Dave, thanks for letting us know. Even though I'm way-y-y outside the CHOPTAG geographic area, I know Gary through his posts here. Best wishes to him for a complete and speedy recovery.

Defibrillator Center Visit
A quick note to tell you I had my first appointment this morning to have my Defibrillator checked and it looked great! All the information is downloaded onto the computer and it makes a print out as well. I also was given an x-ray to make sure the "leads" from the devise into the heart were in the correct position. I have an appointment in a month; the surgeon will see me on my third visit. My incision was checked and I was given further directions on care and all the other information needed; there are so many things I have to avoid which can interfere with its function.
I contiune to be restricted from driving because of the left arm use; maybe in three or four weeks I will have my freedom. lol The good news is I will be able to attend the CHOPTAG Tomato Tasting in Cincinnatti in August as long as I keep my ICD Information Card on my person; I am also suppose to have a Medic Alert Bracelet on my arm at all times. Our friend, Larry, will be driving me to CHOPTAG I continuie to improve each day and appreciate all your thoughts and prayers which you have shared with me. What better friends can one have! Thank you as a group and as individuals who have written me directly. Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!. Blessings to each of you. Gary |
