It is like a grasshopper, but shorter in body than what I think of as a grasshopper. I thought maybe someone might know what they are...

If it is a grasshopper or relative they will eat plants or tomatoes.
Could be an enemy scout.
Kill him and mount him on a stick as a warning to the others....

Looks like a grasshoppers steroidal warrior cousin.
Spike y looking body armor too.
Those look like fangs to me....
