I have a friend that uses his first initial and then full middle name on anything but official business. 25 years ago he answered something with a fictitious first name that matched the init. He still gets quite a bit of junk main sent to him with that first name on it.

Kath, same here from JOhnny's and also from the general Jung's catalog as well.

My take on that is they send you a second catalog if you didn't buy anything from the first catalog sent.

Not a problem, I save them all.

My dad was still getting mail addressed to him about 15 years after he died.

At work we used to get something worse than junk mail and spam. We'd get junk faxes. Not only did they tie up the fax machine you had to pay for the paper also.

I'm getting junk texts.
One is some stupid sports gambling thing.
I hate sports and have no idea how they could target me.
I have nothing to do with sports and wont even watch the Clint Eastwood movie, Trouble With The The Curve.
Oddly enough I got tired of it and sent a text back, "please quit sending this crap to me".
I got an answer text saying I was taken off the list about a minute later.
Seems as though there system picks up key words and responds.
Spoooooky.

Advertisements are totally wasted on me as soon as one comes on my mind wonders to some project I am thinking of.

Depending on who your phone is with, most of the companies have a number you can forward a spam text to and they will eventually block them.

I'm with ATT and do not have text as part of my plan so I have to pay for those junk texts. My phone is also on the do not call federal list. So after a few forwarded junk texts to the ATT Spam line, I don't get any any more.

I,too, will cast my vote for the Tomatoville seed vendors. I have most of them bookmarked
and my only complaints would be that every heirloom (35,000?) should be on one site. LOL
A few may take a few days longer in shipping, but they always warn you on their websites
that they might be a one person operation or do the seed gig as a sideline to a full time
job, etc. In particular, I admire such folks, so I love finding my non-time sensitive purchases
at their sites. With the beautiful catalogs many of them put out, I suspect subscriptions to
Playboy are way, way down!!

I learned if you ever order from parks, which actually was my main complaint, order well in advance of your seed starting schedule.

There does need to be a web site where you can buy all the heirlooms, or at least a central nexus where you can shop all the different sites, do one check out and then submit an order to all merchants involved.

About handling junk mail. Though the problem is still prevalent my solution is stuffing a roof shingle into the return envelope. they pay for the postage by weight

And I have two emails one with all spam and one with some spam. but I can normally get that stuff to stop if I take the time to send a stop request. the other emails I sign up for spam so they themselves get the joy of having their inbox dumped on.

The weirdest calls that I get are what I think to be a debt collection agency in Miami that only sends messages in Spanish. And for some reason I get a lot of activity from The Sacremento WIC support center telling me that my non existent child can now get tested to see if they are getting all the nutrients they need.

Yeah, it already exists. Any merchant can participate. Here's 72 pages of heirlooms...

But many of the merchants there on Amazon are the same ones you already dislike on their own web site. The Amazon fees for them are even worse than the eBay fees. I don't know how they are making any money there.

Not to mention the fact that most of the listings are for mostly the run of the mill heirlooms. You won't find any of the really unusual or rare varieties there.
