SNOW.. That is what has been falling from the sky in this neck of the woods.. Glad I planted the garlic a few weeks ago.

I am not ready for snow yet either. The hubby and I have not cut any wood for the stove and we still have a small barn to build this week. Plus adding on to the coop.

We had snow showers here in NE Ohio.Nothing sticking because the ground is warm but it's going to be around 30 degrees tonight.

A big El Nino has pushed tropical sea snakes onto southern California shores, we could be in for a wild Winter.

Yep, here, too... but just a few little graupels? nothing much. but it is chilly. I had a farmers market scheduled for Saturday, but we decided not to go. It was just too miserable to think of standing in the wind and possible snow rain mix. I hear the coming week is to be nice. I just hope we don't get the freeze like they are worrying us for.

It's supposed to warm back up a bit after today, at least in lower Michigan.

We had a couple of nice snow squalls yesterday, no accumulation. Last night's heavy frost with temps in the low 20s, took any hope I had to gather any more late comers from my garden. All plants are officially withered beyond revival.

We have been lucky too, as the lakes are keeping us warm. South of us people are in the 20's, we didn't leave the 30's. I had some excellent peppers in pots that spent the weekend indoors. That worked well! Back out now.

The first sighting the other night was as I was leaving my son's house in southern NH. I thought, okay, he's a bit further north and west of me, so it's not THAT surprising.

But then yesterday as I was at my kitchen sink preparing to go out and plant garlic, a sunny sky quickly went dark and we had ourselves an October snow squall.

I should have expected something. Every year my garlic planting day has been cloudy with some amount of rain. I woke up yesterday morning thinking, hmmmm... am I actually going to plant garlic on a sunny, dry day for a change?

The funniest part is that last Monday I was out preparing the soil for the garlic wearing a tank top and seriously thinking about ditching the jeans in favor of a pair of shorts.

The earliest I've ever seen, except for the rare Dusting in July a couple of times in CO/WY, was a 12" storm in about the 3rd week in Sept one year when I lived in NE CO.
We had a regional dog specialty and the handlers from warmer states didn't bring anything but summer clothes. You can imagine their surprise, attending an outdoor dog show in Sept, when it was still basically summer where they came from.

I hope that I'm wrong, I really truly do. However, I am anticipating a long winter with lots of heavy wet snow. It won't be bitter bitter cold like it was 2013-2014, but I'm expecting lots of heavy wet snow like 2004-2005 and 2010-2011. I hope that I'm wrong.
