Default neves ar

wow - Neves AR has a central stem about the size of my thumb and looks like several stems maybe welded together - but very healthy. Question on the flowers - several just like regular yellow tom flower but several are these huge multi petaled flowers with very thick flower stems. Is one male, female or what? Can't wait to see what develops, she's about 4 1/2 high. Thanks in advance - piegirl - my first post on tomville!

If I'm understanding correctly, sounds like you may have a double or triple blossem. If thats the case you will get a huge mishappened fruit.

It will still be good to eat, just cut up the good looking parts and enjoy!

NAR is one of my favorites. And just a single fruit gets pretty good sized here in my garden!

Agree with Mike. This is something I typically see on the
earliest blossoms... possibly due to environmental (cool
weather) conditons early.

By the way, Welcome to Tomatoville!

Denise: Good to see you finally got on. The sister(brother??) plants to your NAR also have some doubles. One has set and if it continues to grow will be an interesting double tomato.

Default NER

Big fruits, good production, sturdy tree-like plant.
And what is more, the flavour is excellent.

She is about ready to set fruit and seems to grow several inches each day - someone mentioned tree-like and definitely to be caged. Now if I can just beat the squirrels! Paul - I should have snow whites for the 4th! Piegirl

Hey Tom (and anyone else that got NAR seeds from me)
The plant that I saved seed from had a freaking "STALK"
It was like 2-3 stems fused together!
I don't know if it's common for NAR but that's always been par for the course with my Neves plants.

And was common from the first time I grew what we now know as Neves Azorean Red, seeds from Charlie Perry to me and Charlie got them from a cousin who got them from the man who owned the Neptune Harvest Seaweed Co near Boston.

Tony Neves used to trade fruits of this variety that he brought with him when he immigrated from the Azores, in return for Neptune Harvest fertilizer products.
