Default Not a great day for planting in Alberta

Intended to plant peas and sweet peas today. Have re-considered.

Darlene with her new snow-blower that I got her for an anniversary gift. She told me to take a hike when I ask if I could get a strip cleared in the garden for peas. I thought she liked peas? Maybe if I offer to make her a homemade pizza?

That would be perfect! Clear the garden with the snow blower and plant! Please post a video of that!

Holy Moly! I hope that's not heading our way! Looks like the greenhouse design sheds snow really well.

Further south in Airdrie, we did not get nearly as much snow as you guys. Fortunately, it has mostly melted.
Typical Alberta spring weather, eh?

We had a similar event last week... over 30 cm. It stuck around long enough to shovel, too.
The weather man also dashed a little salt in our wounds by reminding us that, statistically, we normally get 30-40 cm of snow in April... this is clearly the kind of snow that also wipes out the memory of those who witness it....
I have a few snow peas planted all the same... in the greenhouse.

Willyb, and others that got "dumped on"....

My sympathies. I can remember having that kind of snowfall on the 5th of May one year....righhhhhhht...Spring weather. Hmmmmmmm.....

Dunno why Darlene might object - NOT!!!!! She probably thought you're nuts, deluded, crazy, obsessed with the anticipating planting of your garden....dunno if she thinks the same about you all the time. My family used to think I was nuts too trying to get stuff out there as soon as possible....laughing at my methods of getting rid of the snow on the concrete patio - shovelling it all into the pool! Have to admit that we actually got the snowblower out on the concrete patio to clear the 4 ft drifts that were closer to the house. We had visions of it all flooding the basement with a predicted freak heat wave.

Have fun and hope it all melts quickly.

thats exactly why the plow is still on my truck, and it aint comin off till mid april or a good 10 days forecast. i have been in the U.P. long enough to experience 2 or 3 years where we got 18-24 inches of snow in mid april. with a 700 ft long drive way, i am taking no chances. if i have to get out, i'm getting out.
at least this time of year, the snow doesn't stick around for long. just one last parting shot from old man winter.

I give up -- where is U.P.? The only place I found was India. I could guess the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

The U.P. is the upper peninsula of Michigan. I think you have to be a Michigander to know about that lingo.

Or a Wisconsinite who thinks we should just take it over.
