The EarthTainer "Farm" Harvest - July 1
We are now in the best time of the Season here in N. California:
Better Boy and Big Daddy are in full production mode: Soren's MarNar is also kicking in: Dona F1 remains my Wife's favorite: A collage of WBF Beauty King: And one of my favorites this year - Desters: As I mentioned - Harvest time: The WBF Beauty King is clocking in at near 20 ounces: Sweetcorn is now ready for harvest: I am comparing On-Deck (2 'Tainers on the left) versus Gurney's Gotta-Have-It (3 'Tainers on the right): Looks like Gotta-Have-It is the one to beat (both planted May 1) My tomatoes for early Fall production are on track: And the late Fall / Christmas sequence were just planted: And the Celery is smelling wonderful: The two grafted plants are going up through the deck's lattice: Raybo |

Really nice!
One question if I may, do ever prune or do you just let them have their way? |

Jaysan,
I just prune the lower foliage - not suckers as others do (too much work!) Raybo |

Raybo,
Your garden is beautiful!! I have a question for you: Do you ever grow squash in an Earthtainer? I have one extra empty 'tainer this year, so I put a pattypan squash plant in it this morning. I've had good luck growing squash in 25 gal regular pots, so this will be a new experiment for me. Lyn |

Hi all,
Thanks for the comments. Lyn, I've never grown squash before but no reason they shouldn't do fine. I have 8 EarthTainers growing cucumbers at the moment. Raybo |

Ray, I am always admiring your garden because it always looks so nice. Congrats on your pickings.
Lyn, I grow squash in my earthboxes-2 per because four is just too much foilage. I plant them one each side with the fert strip short side down the middle. Allow lots of room for the foilage to spread out.

The garden looks great. Dester looks like a winner. I can't wait until I have a few ripe tomatoes on my Dester plant.

Raybo - Your container garden is amazing -- beautiful and incredibly productive. I'm old school or perhaps it's because I have enough space in my backyard to garden in the soil but your success is is certainly a solid example of how productive container gardening can be.
