This individual is Graphisurus fasciatus, a species of longhorned beetles. The antennae are quite notable. http://www.americaninsects.net/b/gra...fasciatus.html . The larvae eat hardwoods, so you pepper is probably OK!

thanks for helping out! i didn't think these guys would hurt but i've seen a few lately, one with very long antennae
