I know Tormanto already thinks of me as being sacrilegious.. But how about a category called 'Varieties you wouldn't even want your enemies to try'?
That way, we might get some interesting tomatoes...! Someone's poison is another person's delicacy... |

I just started the fermentation part of saving some F2 seeds (But for the Mystery part of MMMM - I won't say which variety) Hint - I started a thread a week ago named after the F1.
Is there any interest in growing F2s? I like not knowing what shape/size/color the fruit might be. Most of the F2s I've grown produce good tasting tomatoes. The bags I send in will be Very clearly marked F2. Last edited by AlittleSalt; July 7, 2016 at 01:11 PM. |

Me personally I don't mind F2's or any other F's. My thinking is they need to be grown out. Who knows the next best tomato everybody should have may be in those f2's and up.
I wouldn't have found my second favorite tomato of the season if not for an F something or other. Heck, besides the Ambrosia Blue producing three types of tomatoes, I had a chocolate pear that had commercial company name with it and got three sizes of tomatoes and one a different color. Great way to start learning about genetics all these surprises. : ) |

It's your taste buds that are warped. My guess is that it was too many "candy days" of your youth. All that ammonium chloride in the Salmiakki has you craving someone's poison. I'm not sure if this category would go over very well with others. I don't even need to give a name, as it can be the "" category. |

No, I must protest.. Clearly it is you, sir, with warped taste buds... Anyone who doesn't recognize salmiakki as a delicacy, has a distorted perception of reality.
Besides, I never had candy days in my youth |

Desert Island - Your ONE AND ONLY favorite variety (SunGold doesn't count) Potato Leaf Tribbles - heavily ribbed, pleated, ridged, scalloped, fluted, ruffled beauties Did I miss any? Any more suggestions? I may start the 2016 MMMM thread about the first of August. So, I'd like to have the categories somewhat set. |
